Thalassic Society
The Thalassic Society is mutually run by graduate students in the Department of Oceanography. All
Oceanography students are automatically members of the society and many of the activities are open to
anyone who is oceanography related (including faculty, staff, family, and friends). No university student
may be denied membership on the basis of race, creed, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, national
origin, marital status, parental status, disability, or the inability to pay dues. Membership is open to
all individuals wishing to participate. For more information contact the
Thalassic Society.
The objectives of the society are to promote fellowship among the different disciplines within oceanography, enhance the experience of oceanography students through educational and extracurricular activities, and increase awareness of oceanography in the community at large. Current activities to achieve these objectives are:
- Salmonole Run
- Symposium Information/Guidelines
- 4th Annual Symposium
