IntroductionWomen have played a large role in the development of science at Florida State University. These contributions date from the earliest days of the institution. The information that is posted to this site is collated from a variety of sources including the FSU Special Collections, faculty files, scrapbooks, early editions of the American Men of Science, and personal recollections. This site was prepared in conjunction with the 2001-2002 Lawton Homecoming Lecture that was presented by Dr. Nancy Marcus on November 8, 2001. The lecture titled "Honoring Our Scientific Roots at Florida State University: A Pictorial Essay" highlights some of the women faculty and students that form this history. | ||||||||
